#TEXT: ;;; Steam on the Canal.;;; --The canal steamboat Virginia Enterprise was successfully launched at Scottsville last week.;;; She took to the water easily, but when steam was raised, she disappointed the expectations of her friends woefully.;;; She moved, it is true, but so slowly as to cause doubts as to the ultimate success of the scheme.;;; She is now at Scottsville undergoing some alterations, by which it is thought the requisite speed may be attained.;;; The experiment has succeeded elsewhere, and if there is any fault in the construction of the boat, it may be remedied.;;; Nil desperandum should be the motto.;;;
